Pre-Installation Preparation

Before installing the distribution box, ensure the site is ready: walls and ceilings should be finished with no water leakage, and the ground leveling layer must be completed. The foundation must be inspected and approved, with all embedded conduits, transformer incoming/outgoing line holes, and related embedded parts verified as qualified. The foundation should be strong enough to support the box and any associated equipment without sagging, and steel channels embedded in a level concrete floor are recommended for stability and alignment .

Mounting and Positioning

The distribution box should be securely installed in the correct position with all components complete. Box openings must match conduit diameters, and flush-mounted covers should fit closely to the wall with intact coatings. Installation height should comply with design and maintenance requirements to allow safe and convenient access . Ensure the box is made of non-combustible materials for fire safety.

Wiring and Connections

  • Secondary circuit wiring must meet design specifications, with insulation ratings not lower than 450/750V for standard circuits. Copper core insulated wires should be used, with cross-sectional areas of at least 2.5mm² for current-carrying circuits and 1.5mm² for other circuits .
  • Wire connections should be neat, untwisted, and tight without damaging the wire cores. Only two wires should connect to a single terminal, with anti-loosening washers applied.
  • Circuit numbering inside the box must be complete and accurate for easy identification and maintenance.
  • Different voltage levels, AC/DC lines, and computer control lines should be bundled separately to avoid interference and ensure operational safety .

Grounding and Safety

All components, including the box enclosure, transformer supports, and foundation steel, should be reliably connected to the protective conductor. Grounding of the transformer neutral point and system grounding must meet design requirements, and commissioning tests should confirm proper grounding before energization . Only qualified electrical personnel should perform installation, handling, and testing to prevent injury or equipment damage .

Compliance and Standards

Installation should follow IEC and IEEE standards for medium voltage systems, ensuring proper insulation, dielectric withstand, and service continuity. The foundation flatness and levelness should meet ASTM and ACI standards, and the box should be compatible with the overall MV system design, including transformers and switchgear . By following these steps, the MV lighting distribution box will be safely and efficiently installed, ensuring reliable operation and compliance with technical and safety standards.
