Frequency Characteristics

Fiber optic sensors detect physical quantities by modulating light properties such as intensity, phase, polarization, wavelength, or transit time. The signal frequency depends on the type of sensor and the physical phenomenon being measured. For example, vibration or acoustic sensors often use frequency modulation (FM) techniques, where the carrier frequency of light is modulated by the mechanical oscillation of a microstructure, allowing detection of vibration spectra .   • Electromagnetic Field Detection: High-frequency fields induce nonlinear effects in the fiber, detectable up to GHz ranges .
