Installation and Wiring of Small Distribution Boxes

Wiring a small distribution box involves careful preparation, proper breaker and wire installation, correct connections, and thorough safety testing.

Step 1: Material Preparation

Prepare all necessary materials including circuit breakers, wires, wiring ties, and tools. Step 2: Location and Mounting

Select a suitable location that is dry, ventilated, and easily accessible, typically around 1.5 meters above the ground for residential boxes. Install the base securely on a stable surface using expansion bolts or screws, and place the distribution box level on the base . Ensure enough space around the box for heat dissipation and maintenance.

Step 3: Circuit Breaker Arrangement

Arrange the circuit breakers from left to right, reserving space on the right side if needed. Install each breaker in its designated slot according to the wiring diagram or installation instructions . Ensure that the main incoming breaker is properly positioned for connection to the main power supply.

Step 4: Wire Preparation and Color Coding

Cut the insulation of each wire to expose the conductor. Follow standard color coding: neutral wires in blue, phase wires in yellow (A), green (B), and red (C). Select wire specifications according to the load of each circuit .

Step 5: Wiring Connections

• Connect the incoming live wire to the main terminal of the distribution box .
• Connect each circuit wire to its corresponding breaker, ensuring correct polarity and secure connections.

Before powering on, perform the following checks:

• Visual inspection for loose connections or exposed conductors.
• Use a multimeter to verify continuity, correct polarity, and absence of short circuits .
• Test the leakage protector and breakers to ensure proper operation.
