  • Line-side conductor clearance: If conductors are trained to one side of the socket, maintain 4 inches of side-to-block clearance with 3 inches of unobstructed depth on that side, and 2.5 inches clearance on the opposite side .
  • The socket must accept 3-inch conduit at the bottom, and bypass horns are not acceptable .

Conduit and Installation Requirements

  • Conduits must extend at least 36 inches from the building to prevent settling and potential damage to cables .

Service Coordination

  • Before selecting a service method or installing equipment, Georgia Power and the customer must discuss alternatives to ensure the chosen configuration meets both safety and operational needs .
  • Any abandoned equipment must have a mutual agreement between the customer and Georgia Power regarding ownership and responsibility .

Additional Considerations

  • Underground and overhead service wires must be installed according to Georgia Power's Blue Book guidelines for permanent and temporary services .
  • For three-phase services, all motors must have overload devices on each phase to ensure protection .
