Poland's enterprise and carrier networks are now deploying 400G optical routers using Ciena's WaveLogic 5 Nano ZR+ coherent pluggable modules, enabling high-capacity, multi-vendor, and energy-efficient transport.

Polish network operator EXATEL has implemented Ciena's WaveLogic 5 Nano (WL5n) 400G ZR+ coherent pluggable transceivers across its 23,800-kilometer fiber-optic network, connecting major Polish cities to European interconnection hubs such as London, Frankfurt, Stockholm, Vienna, and Paris . This deployment represents the first disaggregated, software-defined optical network architecture in Poland, allowing EXATEL to integrate multiple router vendors while delivering high-speed, energy-efficient services . The WL5n modules consume less than 20W per module and support multi-rate interoperability from 100G to 400G, making them suitable for access, metro-regional, and data center interconnect (DCI) applications .

400G ZR and ZR+ Technology
