How CWDM Optical Modules Work

  1. Transmission: Multiple data sources send signals at distinct wavelengths. The CWDM module combines these signals into one fiber using a multiplexer.
  2. Propagation: The different wavelengths travel together through the fiber without interfering with each other.
  3. Reception: At the receiving end, a demultiplexer separates the combined signals by wavelength, directing each to its intended receiver . CWDM modules typically operate in the 1270nm to 1610nm wavelength range, covering the O, E, S, C, and L fiber bands, with standard channel spacing of 20nm.
