How to connect Huawei core switches
You can connect to a Huawei core switch via console or SSH, then configure VLANs, interfaces, and routing to integrate it into your network.
Accessing the Switch
- Console Connection: Use a console cable (or USB-to-serial if your PC lacks a serial port) to connect your PC to the switch's console port. For switches with a Mini USB port, a Mini USB cable can be used .
- SSH Connection: If the switch is already network-accessible, you can connect via SSH using the management IP address. Log in with your username and password . Once connected, enter system view by typing
system-viewto access configuration mode .
Basic Configuration Steps
- Create VLANs: Use the
vlan batch <vlan-id>command to create VLANs on the core switch . - Assign Ports to VLANs: Enter the interface view with
