  • Installation on a stair landing is allowed if the box is not over the steps and the required working space is maintained . Working Space and Accessibility:
  • Maintain a minimum clearance in front of the panel: 30 inches (762 mm) wide, 36 inches (914 mm) deep, and 6.5 feet (≈2 meters) high for safe operation and maintenance (NEC 110.26), .
  • Ensure the panelboard door can open fully to 90° without obstruction .
  • Distribution boxes should be readily accessible for operation, inspection, and maintenance, avoiding locations that could impede movement on stairs . Mounting Height:
  • Recommended height for residential distribution boards is 1 to 1.8 meters from the floor, with 1.3 meters suggested for elderly or handicapped users .
  • Industrial installations may vary, but adequate height and width must allow safe access and operation. Environmental and Safety Considerations:
  • Install in dry, ventilated areas free from water, dust, or other adverse conditions .
