Step 1: Prepare for Replacement

Before starting, power down any active network connections if possible to prevent service disruption. Gather necessary tools such as screwdrivers, utility knife, cable ties, and grommets. Ensure the new distribution box is compatible with your existing fiber optic cables and connectors .

Step 2: Remove the Old Distribution Box

  1. Open the box by loosening screws or clips on the door .
  2. Carefully unclip the splice tray and remove any cable tie-downs to free the fibers .
  3. Disconnect patch cables from the couplers and gently remove fibers from the tray, taking care not to bend or pull them excessively .
  4. Remove the box from its mounting (wall or rack) by unscrewing brackets or fasteners .

Step 3: Prepare the New Distribution Box

  1. Install mounting brackets if required and position the box in the designated location .
  2. Feed the fiber optic cables through the cable inlet using grommets to protect the fibers .
